Ann Curry

Ann Curry has worked as an journalist for over 45 years. Her focus is on natural disasters and areas of war. Curry was known for her coverage of humanitarian crises in war-torn countries and on natural catastrophes. Curry has a father who was a U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. Her father dated his mother in Japan while he was stationed there after World War II. Because of her father's military service, her family has moved several times. Curry finished highschool at Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated from the University of Oregon awarded her the degree of bachelor of arts in journalism. Her exposure to different cultures and environments in her early years likely contributed to the empathy with which she approaches issues of international significance. Following that, she went into the role of anchor and reporter for KGW, the NBC affiliate station in Portland. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter at KCBS TV just four years after having moved into the city. During her six-year association with the station she received 2 Emmy Awards.
